About Alessandra

Alessandra Basher is a Brazilian-born stand-up comedian, writer, and actress based in Austin, Texas.

Before moving to the United States, she spent a decade performing in Brazil, including six years touring her one-woman comedy show across São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and an appearance on TV Globo’s hit soap opera Passione.

After stepping away from entertainment for 12 years to raise her family, Alessandra returned to the stage at McCurdy’s Comedy Theatre in Sarasota, Florida - this time performing stand-up in her second language. She has since performed at the Hollywood Improv in Los Angeles, Gotham Comedy Club and Broadway Comedy Club in New York City, and clubs across Austin.

In 2025, her comedy video “We Thank You, Elon Musk” reached 2.8 million views on X and divided the internet. Viewers debated whether she was joking or in a cult. Neither side considered the third possibility: a wife trying to get into her Tesla-obsessed husband’s algorithm.

Alessandra’s comedy is built on one simple idea: no matter where you’re from, families are complicated, marriage is hard, and life rarely goes according to plan. Through sharp storytelling and the unique perspective of a Brazilian navigating life in America, Alessandra is discovering that families, marriages, and human behavior are just as dysfunctional in every language.
